The PTA
St. James’ catholic High School has a very successful and active Parent Teacher Association.
The main aim of the PTA is, of course, to raise money to enhance the school’s facilities for the benefit of all pupils. However, we also like to think that through a programme of social events and fundraising projects we help to make St. James’ a friendly, caring and supportive community for pupils, their families and the staff. We are aware that it can be difficult for parents to meet and get to know other parents, so we hope to attract as many parents as possible to the various fundraising events we hold throughout the year.
One of our major fund raising events is the annual “Gala Dinner” which last year was held at The Raddison Hotel, Manchester Airport. On that night alone we managed to raise over £6,000, which was used to buy much needed computer equipment for school.
You may also have noticed that our pupils have the use of a brand new minibus. This has been purchased by the PTA through our 500 Club. If you want to become a member and share in prizes of £500 per month then please download an application form from the website, complete it and return it to school and we will do the rest.
These are not our only fund raisers however! If you visit the school for a parents’ evening or a concert, a team from the PTA provide refreshments. Donations received from these events all add to the PTA account.
Would you like to help?
If so, we would love to hear from you.
I often hear from parents who want to help on the day of an event but are not keen on committee meetings, if this is you please get in touch – help on the day is paramount to our success!
However, just by turning up at an event you are doing your bit to help raise money for the school, so even if you can’t be involved behind the scenes, please bring your friends and family along.
If you would like any further information please contact me or any PTA member, through the school office by either telephoning 0161 482 6900 or e-mail office@stjameschs.org.uk
On behalf of the PTA I would like to welcome all new pupils and their families for the coming Autumn term 2008, and look forward to meeting you.
Lastly and most importantly, I would like to offer my sincere thanks to all those who have helped and supported the PTA over the past year.
