Personal, Social, Health, Economic Education – PSHEE

The aim of Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education is to give children and young people the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy and independent lives.  It aims to help them understand how they are developing personally and socially, tackling many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up.

Every member of the teaching staff is a teacher of PSHEE at St James’. Form tutors deliver the programmes of study to their forms in years 7, 8 & 9 while in years 10 & 11 pupils are taught in modular groups.

There is an assessment task for each year group. Years 7, 8 & 9 receive Attitude to Learning grades on the termly interim reports and PSHEE is commented on by form tutors in the yearly reports to parents.

Visitors and theatre groups are used where ever possible to add to the curriculum, and in year 7 there is a PSHEE and Citizenship day of activities.
