"Schools have a special function to fulfill. Not only should a church school set out to teach the young the skills necessary to communicate and create community, but it should also help them to come to realise that God is the ultimate reality and the source of all human community." Cardinal Basil Hulme 24th September 1991
St. James' Catholic High School aims to promote a Christ-centred, caring environment, where individuals develop their full potential and achievement is celebrated. Our Mission Statement itself encapsulates the belief, stated in the school's motto that "Religion is the Foundation of Learning".
Our aims reflect the spirit of our Mission Statement and are pursued within the Catholic ethos of the school. We aim to:
live out the gospel values of faith, hope and love within the school, the local community and beyond
inspire our students with a desire for life-long learning, through an accessible curriculum, which reveals the wonder of God’s creation
actively involve everyone in our school in celebrating their living faith through creative and varied worship
value all members of our community as children of God, by creating a climate of openness, trust, respect and self-esteem
make every person in our school community feel supported in their spiritual, personal and academic development
Through the provision of a broad and balanced curriculum and the promotion of the Catholic ethos of the school, we seek to help students achieve their full potential in:
Spiritual development;
Academic progress leading to formal qualifications;
Physical achievement;
Personal and social development;
The acceptance of moral responsibility.
