Curriculum Overview

The Curriculum at St James’ Catholic High School actively promotes the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. The Catholic ethos of the school strongly promotes tolerance of and respect for people of all faiths (or those of no faith), cultures and lifestyles through the effective spiritual, moral social and cultural development of pupils.

  


The monitoring of progress at Key Stage 3

From September 2014 following the implementation of the new National Curriculum there is no longer a Government requirement to use levels at key stage 3.

However at St James' Catholic High School we have decided to continue to use levels to measure progress at key stage 3 as it is a system that both parents and pupils understand.

At St James' Catholic High School we have carefully matched the new National Curriculum content to each level at key stage 3 so there is continuity between the levels of progress that were described in the previous version of the national curriulum and the modified levels of progress that are in use from September 2014.

We will regularly review our decision to continue the use of levels along with the vast majority of Stockport Secondary schools who have also taken the decision to use levels at key stage 3.
