First Impressions is a mixed media project involving us, the pupils of two schools in Stockport; St James Catholic High School and Castle Hill High School. We wanted to learn some multimedia skills and then pass our knowledge on to older people within our community.
We enjoy using technology to listen to music - we love our mobile phones and the internet! We realised that this was a very different way of listening to music than people of our grandparents' generation were used to. We wanted to learn more about how music was listened to over the years, learn more about online technology and also to teach older people about how they could use new technologies better.

This project took quite a lot of preparation! We had to learn how to use all the equipment. Some of our practise efforts didn't work out too well!
We also learnt how to interview people. We used our teachers as guinea pigs!
You can take a look at some of our first efforts on this page.

We went to Abbeyfield Care Home in Bramhall and Reinbek Care Home in Davenport to try out our new skills.
We really enjoyed meeting the residents there and interviewing them about music, technology and media, and they enjoyed talking to us about their lives and how they listened to music when they were younger. On this page you can see some of our photos and videos from the day.

We showed our work to parents, friends, teachers, governors and residents from Reinbek and Abbeyfield at a presentation evening at school. It was hard preparing what we were going to say.
This was the invitation which we sent to guests. The invites on the right were signed by all of us who worked on the project.
