The 1980, 1988 and 2002 Education Acts and the 2007 DCSF School Admissions code gave parents increased opportunities to choose the school where they would like their children to be educated.

The law requires local education authorities and school governors to publish details of admission arrangements and other information so that parents are able to express preferences for schools in the light of full and comparable information about them. Arrangements for admissions to Stockport Schools can be found on the Council website:
